So I am pretty anxious to get these Nas remixes done. The problem I am having is that I got a lot of the voclas from vinyl. What happens is, some of the songs change tempo slightly as the record spins. So it is hard to line the beats up and audition them against the vocals. I don't have that problem with the Aesop Rock and Jay Z stuff that came off of CDs... digital is cool like that.

So this project is taking me a lot longer than the other ones.

What is keeping me from dropping the remixes as fast as I would like to is, when I listen to one track and remix it, I hear phrases that could work for another song in another volume. Nas will say something that can fit on a 50 Cent song. 50 will say something that can fit on s Jay Z track. And Jay will say something that will fit on an Aesop track. I like building new chorus arrangements a la DJ Premier.

So it is kinda hard to do one at a time because they all kinda borrow from one another.

Then on top of that, as I dig for breaks I hear a lot of stuff that can work all over the place. So instead of working in a linear direction, I have to bounce around.

What I have done though... is come up with a order of operation that should allow me to stay as linear as possible. And what I mean by that is, the remixes get dropped in order. I finish song 091 and then move onto 092 and so on.

First I have to listen and chop all the vocals. That can take a couple of weeks. Then I have to listen to as many records as possible digging for usable audio. Then I can start making the beats.

When I start dropping the audio, you wil get 1 beat day for the rest of the year starting this September.
