My snare work on this remix was out of control. I just rode with it because I was too lazy to go back and try anything else. Please excuse my bumminess.

My timing and sound selection on this beat was kinda weird. Can't remember off the top how I developed this beat but the video explains all of that. Get the kit off the blog.

This was from a contest I came across over at iLLmuzik. I forgot who won but naturally the winner had a dope version. I liked my A version better than my B version. I do understand it is a little rough on the ear cuz the synth is so offensive but it worked for me. Cambatta is on the flow.

Version A ::: Version B

064 - King Mex Flow

There is a version in the video that I show done by another cat. Well from what I can tell, what he did was, pull out and emphasize the guitar part of the sample and flipped it into a sick beat. Hit the video to see what I am talking about.

Going two different directions with the same vocals and have them come out decent is kinda hard. I thought these came out okay. Naturally the original is the beast but these were fun to do. I lost the kit for version B but you can get A off the blog.

065a Instrumental

066a ::: 066b

Flipped two very recognizable samples. So I guess I lose some cool points for that with other producer heads. But I just wanted to see what I could come up with those.

Decided to try and do some Southern styled beats since I live in the South. These aren't even really Southern style by the South's standards but this as still a fun remix. I want to eventually get to using Logic exclusively since it does have everything you need but I have a long way before I am strong enough in Logic to stick with it. Maybe by 2010 I will be heavy in Logic.

So I was supposed to be remixing a lot of Common tracks. But it turns out a lot of the acapellas I had were strange tempos that I could never really match and line up so this was of of the ones I was able to flip.

I'm always over at iLLmuzik and Iceman posted up an opportunity to remix one of his projects so I actually jumped on it and got it done in a timely manner. This was a faster tempo for me but I ended up coming up with something decent. Download the instrumental and if you want to flip it, get the kit off my blog.

ODB is easily one of my top 10 fav emcees of all time. And this song is top 3 for me of all time easy. I was excited to get my hands on the acapella but as I expected, there was a negative reaction to remixing something that is a straight classic and should never be touched. But this is all in the name of love and fun. This was one of my earlier MPC beats and I wanted to use it for something and this was what I used it for.

All Star is an emcee based out of Nashville and one of my boys suggested I should flip some of his work and since I was lucky enough to find some of this acapellas, I decided to try and compose some synth beats around his vocals.

Some more All Star. Check out the video to see the build up. I probably will eventually get a lot better at composed beats but I really like the sampled stuff better. I like the way sampled beats sound as compared to synth beats but synths beats are a little more fun to make. Especially once I get better at understand chords and progression.

The last All Star track I was able to find acapellas for. Out of all the synth remixes I did with his vocals, I probably liked this one the most. The beat. The other songs were better songs to me but I liked how the beat and the synths worked together in this song.

I ended up replacing what was going to be a Common remix with a Tanya Morgan track. It was for a contest but the deadline already passed. You can get the kit off my blog so you can freak it yourself.

I'm still trying to get around on the MPC. I think it is just a matter of getting my sound banks up. This beat is kinda simple and if you listen close, there are some bad artifacts in the sample that kinda mess up the sonics of this song. But hey, it's all practice.

Well, this volume of remixes did not come out the way I wanted them too. But I am glad I finally finished them. My goal was to have 10 remix volumes done before I started and finished my second stage of my music project but I think I am going to go ahead and move forward at this point. I am just running out of time. I wanted to have a lot more common on this set of remixes but I had some problems with some of the acapellas. And as far as the beats go, I didn't feel this was my strongest set of cuts. But, with that said, I think I have def gotten a little faster at arrangement. Not that I was to be fast, but I want to get better at getting my ideas out or developing my ideas as fast as possible so I don;t lose the idea all together. As always, I want to thank the people who give me feedback and appreciate my work. And I def want to thank the heads that support the culture and support the artists they love. Be sure to check out that Tanya Morgan and purchase their work if you are feeling them. And if you flip that Urang cut, be sure to hit them up.
